The GTBank Masters Cup, formerly known as Heritage Cup is one of the GTBank Football Tournaments. The tournament was first conceived when GTBank realized that grass-root football development was incomplete without participation of all schools in Lagos state (Private and Public) especially those that dominated the Principals Cup over three decades ago, since its inception in 1954.

It also aims to identify local football talents in Nigerian Colleges whilst creating a platform for participating schools to compete in a peaceful atmosphere, learn the principle of “fair play” and eschew violence in football.

The event kicked-off in February 2012 with Nine (9) schools participating and ended on May 18, 2012 with the finals held at the Campos Stadium, Lagos Island. First, second and third prize winners received cash prizes of N750, 000, N400, 000 and N200, 000 respectively in the Boys and Girls categories.

The competition, which is currently in its 5th season, has expanded to a total of 23 schools; 21 schools in the Boys category and 12 schools in the Girls category.

The season V of GTBank Masters Cup kicked off in November 2015, with the group stage set to be concluded by December 2015. This season’s edition has seen the addition of Greensprings Schools, Chrisland College and The International School, University of Lagos (ISL).

The subsequent rounds of the competition will hold from January through April 2016.
