The 2015 Nigeria Telecoms Games kicked off amidst fanfare on Sunday 2nd August, 2015 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Lagos. The excitement in the air was palpable as participants renewed acquaintances in readiness for another season of sporting fun.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Managing Director of Etisalat, Mathew Willsher, the CMO of Etisalat, Francesco Angelone. Also present were some top management staff of debutants, IHS, Stella Odembo; Amaebi Fiderikmo; Emmanuel Nortey, Procurement Director; Rotimi Adeyigba, Internal Audit Head. The VP Marketing Planning for Airtel, Kunle Arotin was also present at the opening ceremony.
The day started with a ceremonial march past by the contingent of the participating companies, Airtel led the march closely followed by debutants IHS Africa, they were followed by LM Ericsson and then the football Champions Etisalat with the much coveted Trophy. The Overall Champions of the NTG 2014, MTN marched last to the sound of ‘Stand Up for the Champions’
The Balloting for the Technical Committee for the NTG 2015 was done, at the end the following companies will alongside MediaVision Limited form the Technical Committee for the NTG 2015:
Etisalat
LM Ericsson
IHS
Two matches were played, in the first match, defending Champions Etisalat took on the third place finishers from last season, Airtel, the game ended in a one all draw.
The second match featured former Champions, MTN against LM Ericsson, the match ended 1- 0 in favour of MTN.
