Nigeria FMCG GamesProjectsstoryUncategorized

Around noon on Sunday 23rd July 2017, crowd began to trickle inside the Digital Bridge Institute Sports complex, Cappa, Lagos. By that time the finals kicked off, where the spectators were ready to cheer up their teams to victory.

The event was the finals of the Nigeria FMCG Games 2017 after 3 weeks of intriguing, non-stop sporting action.

The day began on an interesting note with defending champions Unilever taking on UAC Foods. Unilever knowing they had to win, started the game the sharper of the two teams. Charles Ukpele pounced on a loose ball in the UAC penalty area to give Unilever the lead.

The second half started with the same pace as Unilever pushed on for a second goal only to be rebuffed by the goalkeeper Samuel Peter who seems to be unbendable and determined. UAC players became geared with renewed vigor and looked very dangerous on the field of play.

Into the match, Unilever resisted waves of attack from UAC. In the end, the lone goal proved sufficient to hand Unilever victory.

Next up was the battle between Friesland Campina and BUA Group. With Unilever having won their game and moving up to seven points, Friesland had it all to do. Their intent was shown as they took the lead in the 1st minute of the game through Daniel Okoronkwo. Four more goals followed as Friday Okoronkwo, Osas Godwin and Amamgbo Ekene all got on the score sheet.

The second half was more of the same, as Friesland scored again two minutes after the restart. A substitute from Friesland Campina Tony Dunkwu took the game into a climax stage. Tony Dunkwu scored a hat-trick within the last 10 minutes of the game and the last goal sent the Friesland fans into jubilation.
