The 3rd edition of the FMCG Games is here and once again teams from the Fast moving Consumer Goods Industry will come together for a month of fun, overall wellness and sporting actions.
It is without any doubt that the FMCG Games is one of the most exciting and dynamic Industry games in Corporate Nigeria as the games feature young men and women who still have the potential to excel in their chosen sports.
The season 2 of the tournament ended in a glamorous fashion as unfancied Unilever beat all comers to win the football event as well as emerge the Overall Champions of the tournament.
It is worthy to note that Unilever are the only team in the Corporate Nigeria Games to win the football event as well as the championship at the same time!
The FMCG Games is expectedly still basking in the euphoria of emerging the best teams at the Remita Corporate Champions Cup 2015 – the battle of the Champion of Champions.
Nestle and Unilever who represented the FMCG Industry at the tournament both gave a good account of themselves to win the Gold and Bronze respectively. Nestle overcame teams like Etisalat and UBA to clinch the title.
Nestle also beat Unilever in the semi – finals of the Remita Cup and the 2 teams without doubts will renew their rivalry when they meet at the Games in July. By virtue of their recent performances, they are clear favorites to win the Football diadem.
However, there will be stiff opposition from the likes of Dufil Prima, 2013 Champions as well as seasoned contenders, PZ Cussons.
Some teams will be making their debut in the tournament, BUA Group, Guinness Nigeria as well as Reckitt Benckiser. These teams have all been involved in various warm up matches ahead of the tournament.
There will also be lots of sporting action in the other events, as defending Champions Unilever will hope to retain their title by keeping the Milo Boys at bay in the Table Tennis, Chess and Scrabble Events.
One thing is certain, at the end of this classic sports and wholesome entertainment, new stars will be born and the live-wire of the manufacturing industry will be re – energized to keep the goods rolling out.
The Nigeria FMCG Games will kick off in July 2015 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium as well as the Unilag Sports Complex. It is a must watch.
We shall give you a team by team profile, stay tuned.
