Season 9 – Draws

The GTBank Lagos State Principals Cup Season 9 – Draws was held at GTBank Head Office, Victoria Island,Lagos on Thursday, May 31, 2018.

Featuring several dignitaries namely:

• Babs-Akinyeye – Co-curricular Activities, Ministry of Education
• Ola Okunnu – Lagos State Sports Commission
• Dotun Coker – Lagos State Football Association
• Jimmy Sogbesan – COO, MediaVision Limited

• 2 Schools from the GTBank Masters Cup will be participating in the State Preliminaries Stage.

The GTBank Lagos State Principals Cup State Preliminaries Draws commenced with a welcome address by My Jimmy Sogbesan. He welcomed everyone to the event and appreciated GTBank, Ministry of Education, Lagos State Sports Commission, and Lagos State Football Association for their commitment towards the GTBank Lagos State Principals Cup.

Mrs. Oyinade Ogunade focused on GTBank’s goal to add value to the lives of the students. She encouraged the students to take the values adopted from the Principals Cup which includes Discipline, Respect, Sportsmanship, Fair Play and Focus into their daily lives. She also commended the Ministry of Education, Lagos State Sports Commission and Lagos State Football Association for their support and dedication towards the success of the tournament.

 In her closing remarks, she expressed the sponsors plan to create focus groups as a means of creating touch points with the schools and associations involved, She then mentioned that GTBank would like to know what they can do to make the Principals Cup better and more productive.

From the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Babs Akinyeye reiterated the sponsor’s remark on values. She mentioned that the students serve as role models to their community. She added that the values the student pick up from the principal’s cup tournament also reflects in their home.

She also gave the schools assurance that the competition will be fair and screening will be taken seriously at the district level. She made mention of students that have made it to professional clubs after participating in the principals cup and advised the students to take the tournament seriously.

Mr. Ola Okunnu representing the Executive Chairman of LSSC rounded-up the first session of the draws with his remarks. He likened the GTBank Lagos State Principals Cup with the 2018 FIFA World Cup giving reference to the number of schools participating. He wished all the participating schools success in the tournament.
