The second edition of the Chess4Change initiative sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is set to kick off in twelve (12) schools.  Chess4Change initiative is a programme which uses the game of Chess to develop strategic thinking as well as re-direct and harness the potential in our youths, thereby empowering them to compete in an ever-changing world.

The programme which started in February 2014 had six (6) selected schools in Lagos. They include Kings College Lagos, Kuramo Senior College V.I, Falomo Senior Secondary School Ikoyi, Holy Child College Ikoyi, Government Senior College V.I, Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior Secondary School, Osborne, Ikoyi.

The selected schools went through a three month chess tutoring sessions after which a Grand Slam Tournament was organised. Six (6) outstanding chess scholars were picked to represent each pilot school in the Grand Slam Tournament. Kings College Lagos emerged winners in the team and individual categories with gifts and cash prizes presented to all the Winners.

The second edition of the initiative has been expanded with the addition of six (6) more schools.

The new schools were officially unveiled to the public at a press conference on Tuesday 13th October 2015 at Best Western Hotel, Ahmadu Bello Way Victoria Island Lagos. The schools were selected from education District IV. They are Aiyetoro Grammar School Ebute Metta, Aunty Ayo Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Ikoyi, Government Senior College Eric Moore, Itolo Girls Senior Secondary School Surulere, New Era Girls Senior Secondary School Surulere, Methodist Girls High School Sabo Yaba, St.Timothy College Onike Iwaya.

The tutoring session will commence in participating schools on Wednesday, October 14 2015 with the Grand Slam Tournament holding in 2016.
