The second day of the MediaVision Limited initiative for the improvement of PwC Chess4Change programme took place on Thursday, March 30, 2017 with a courtesy visit to  Lagos City College, Sabo Yaba and Birrel Avenue Senior High School, Yaba. The two schools were included in the 3rd edition of the program.

Lagos City College, Sabo, Yaba welcomed the MediaVision team led by Mrs Adenike Abiola upon the visit. The Principal of the school, Mrs Okunneye noted that chess as an extra-curricular activity is good for the students and the PwC Chess4Change program has kindled the interest of the students.

Birrel Avenue Senior High School, Sabo, Yaba

At Birrel Avenue Senior High School, Sabo, Yaba, the MediaVision team met with Mrs Margaret Osibogun, Principal, Mrs Anne Chidi, Vice Principal (Admin) and Mr Ajao, Sports Officer.

Mr Ajao thanked PwC for sponsoring the program while also imploring it to spread the PwC Chess4Change to more secondary schools in Lagos.

 

Some of the students also shared the impact chess has had on them.

Njoku Chigozie an SS 3 student commented that because of the time-based nature of chess, it helps in quick thinking and decision-making.

Ochu Uchechukwu, a student in SS 1 said, “Chess allows me to think clearly.”

Adara Victor who is in SS 2 said, “The game of chess helps me maintain focus when engaging in various activities.”
