The PwC Chess4Change mentorship programme and Mini chess challenge started today at Government Senior College, Victoria Island and over 50 students participated in the event. 11060060

The mentorship programme is a short interactive session where representatives from the PricewaterhouseCoopers will engage and motivate the students at the same time. Today, Mr. Olufemi Ogunyeye mentored the students on the importance of ‘Volunteer work’. According to him, participating in volunteer work gives more experience and the benefits are numerous. He also mentioned that Volunteer work facilitates employment.

Another PwC mentor who spoke at the event was Mr. Sylva Ifedigbo. Mr. Ifedigbo engaged the students on the ‘Effective use of Social Media.

 He explained the different social media platforms available and how they can be used positively to derive benefits. He advised the students on the importance of having a good image on social media.

After the mentorship programme there was a Mini Chess Challenge between host school, Government Senior College and Kuramo Senior Secondary School, Kuramo. Out of 4 games played, Government senior college won 2, Kuramo won 1 and a game ended in a stalemate.

The mentorship programme will continue tomorrow at Akande Dahunsi Secondary School, Ikoyi.
