The atmosphere was serene and ideal for football as the GTBank-Ogun State Principals Cup Finals kicked off at the MKO Abiola International Stadium on Wednesday, 15th July 2015. The stadium witnessed a huge turnout of students, dignitaries, spectators and press men as the biggest secondary football competition in the state unfolded.
The sports loving Deputy Governor of Ogun State – Mrs Yetunde Onanuga was at the stadium to show her support. Some of the other dignitaries present were; Head of Service, Ogun State – Mrs Modupe Adekunle; Divisional Head, South West GTBank – Mrs. Yewande Ige; Secretary to the State Governement, Ogun State – Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa; Director of School Sports, Min. of Education,Ogun State- Mr Bamgboye J A; Group Head, Retail, South West GTBank – Mr Olajide Adebanjo; Mrs Oyinade Adegite – Senior Manager Corporate Communication & External Affairs GTBank.

The Female teams kicked off the finals as United Comprehensive High School, Wasimi Abeokuta played against Muslim High School, Isolu Abeokuta. The game started with both sides pressing each other for a goal. The goal came in the 19th minute when Adeyinka Jumoke’s freekick found the back of the net. However, the Muslim girls were not done yet. Their second goal came few minutes after the start of the second half and that delivered the GTBank-Ogun State Principals Cup trophy to them.
It was different in the male category – St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu Mushin scored first when Olaide Kehinde dribbled past the Pakoto High School goalkeeper to give his team the lead. However, Pakoto High School equalized minutes before the break and it was level at half time.
The second half was tense as both teams pressed for the advantage but it was Ishola Damilare who scored the needed goal for Pakoto High School and they are crowned GTBank-Ogun State Principals Cup Champions for the first time.
