Nigeria FMCG GamesProjectsstory
It was an exciting weekend of activities in the Nigeria FMCG Games 2017.
The Athletics event took place at the Nigerian Port Authority Sports Centre, Bode Thomas Surulere on Saturday, 15th July 2017 and on Sunday, 16th July the football event continued with the other indoor events running simultaneously at the DBI Stadium Cappa, Oshodi.

In the football event, two thrilling football matches were played.

The first match of the day saw 2016 Champions Unilever play BUA Group. Both sides came into the match knowing a win would take them to the summit of the table.  However, it was Unilever that dominated the match leaving BUA little space to come forward. The pressure eventually paid off as they ended the match with a win claiming top spot in the group.

The second match of the day witnessed Friesland Campina play another debutant UAC Foods.

Having witnessed Unilever win the first match, both teams came into their game gunning for victory. The match was tightly contested as both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances until the twenty-first minute when Azeez Afolabi of Friesland Campina produced a moment of magic with a 25-yard curler beating the UAC goalkeeper and sending the Friesland fans into wild jubilation.
In the second half; UAC Foods came back hoping for an equalizer but Friesland left them no room to operate. Friesland gradually took control of the game and once again it was Azeez who got the second goal; lobbing the goalkeeper from 30 yards. UAC rallied but they could not get a goal as Friesland held on to win by 2 – 0 joining Unilever at the top of the table with both sides only separated by goal difference.
