It was an exciting day of activities in the Nigeria Bankers Games 2017 opening ceremony which took place at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, Yaba on Sunday, 8th of October 2017.
The excitement was intense as old friends and friendly rivals reacquainted, reminiscing about the last edition and their plans for the season ahead.
The event was graced by dignitaries and top executives including the Group head, Corporate Communication of BUA Group Mr O’tega Ogra, COO of MediaVision Ltd, Mr Jimmy Sogbesan, Head, Corporate Services of FCMB, Mrs Felicia Obozuwa, Hall of Famers – Mustapha Abdulrasheed Kayode, Vivian Ezenwoko, Eric Iruh, Kayode Agbalaja, Muyiwa Awodiran, Theophilus Amadi and Olalekan Olarenwaju.
Highlights of the event includes:
- Novelty Match between BUA Group vs Konga: The match was a befitting start to the Nigeria Bankers Games 2017 as both teams gave a good account of themselves. The match ended 1 goal to nil in favour of BUA Group.
- March past: Proper funfair and colour of the Opening Ceremony was put on display as the ceremonial march past was done by the participating banks. They include EcoBank, FCMB, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, Sterling Bank, UBA and Union Bank
The march past was led by Ecobank from the front and Defending Football and Overall Champions, Fidelity Bank from the rear. The YabaTech Cadets also brought more glamour to the match past as they led the participating banks throughout the match past.

The tournament was formally declared open by hall of famer – Mustapha Abdulrasheed Kayode “The legend” along with the Chief Operating Officer of Media
