The Season 7 of GTBank Masters Cup kicked off on Tuesday 16th January, 2018, with six matches were played across three Centers in the male Category.
Kings College, Lagos Island hosted the following matches:
Greenspring School, Lekki VS Jubril Martin Memorial Grammar School, Iponri (4 – 0)
It was a thrilling encounter that produced four beautiful goals from the home team, Greenspring Schools, Lekki who scored two goals in each half of the game against a hapless Jubril Martin Memorial School. Muritala Toheeb of the winning team won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.
Whitesand School, Lekki VS Igbobi College, Yaba (4 – 3)
It was a fierce battle between both teams with lot of goals, Whitesand School, Lekki were three goals up in the first half but Igbobi College put up a promising comeback to reduce the deficit in the second half of the game. Although, Yaba-based side’s second-half display was not enough to secure a point for them as a last minute error by the goalkeeper of Igbobi College gave away an all-important three points to the the home team. Ikwuegbu Emmanuel of Whitesand School, Lekki won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.
CMS Grammar School, Bariga hosted the following matches:
Finbarr’s College, Akoka VS Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba (1 – 0)
A match that could have gone either way went in favour of St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka with the lone goal of the match scored by Akpan Moses. John Obinna Okorie despite been on the losing side for FSTC, Yaba was very outstanding which earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.
Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo VS Bellina College, Akoka (4 – 0)
Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo once again lived up to expectation as they came out victorious with four un-replied goals, netting three in the first period and added to their tally in the early exchanges of the second-half. Tijani Yusuf of the winning team who scored the opener of the match won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.
Finbarr’s College, Akoka hosted the following matches:
Eko Boys High School, Mushin VS Western College, Yaba (6 – 0)
It was a goal rush from Eko Boys High School, Mushin in a match that produced six goals and the first hattrick of the competition by Aliyu Faruq. The match ended six goals to nil in favour of Eko Boys High School, Mushin, scoring three goals in each of the halves. Kazeem Taofeek of the winning team due to his creativity in front of goal and during the match won the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
CMS Grammar School, Bariga VS Baptist Academy, Obanikoro (4 – 2)
It was a thrilling encounter but yet fierce battle between the teams. CMS Grammar School, Bariga were two goals up at first before Baptist Academy, Obanikoro draw level some minutes after the break. It was a different scenario in the last ten minutes of the second half as two goals from CMS Grammar School, Bariga made them Winners of the match. Nwolisa Emmanuel who scored the last goal for the winners won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.
