In the Chess event, Guinness while sipping the Malta Guinness drink leads the table in the ongoing male category while FrieslandCampina claimed all the Medals in the female category.

The concluding part of the Indoor Games – Chess, Scrabble and Table Tennis will hold on Saturday, 22nd September from 10am.

Unilever vs Nestle

The first football match of the day witness Unilever take on table topping Nestle. The first half of the match saw Nestle scoring the first goal of the game early from a well worked free-kick. The free-kick was laid off by Akeem Adewale and was rounded off with a finish from Oscar Emmanuel.

Unilever created some decent chances in a bid to get the equaliser in the second half of the match but were ultimately undermined when Adebari Kamoru was fouled inside the 18 yard box giving a penalty chance in favour of Nestle. Olaleye Olamide stepped up to convert the spot kick giving his team the lead.

This result saw Nestle consolidate their position at the top of the league.

Result: Nestle 2 – Unilever 0

Guinness vs FrieslandCampina

The second match saw Guinness slug it out against reigning champions FrieslandCampina Wamco. The two teams were looking for their first wins in the competition. An early goal from Osaz Godwin gave FrieslandCampina the lead which stayed same into the break.

In the second half however, Guinness looked better in attack as they searched for an equalizer which eventually came in late into the game when substitute – Agbafar Stanley played in a lovely through-pass to put Osaze Igbinosun through on goal, who outwitted his opposing defender with pace and lobbed the outrushing goalkeeper.

The match ended 1-1 meaning both teams continue their search for their first wins of the FMCG 2018 season.
