The 2016 GTBank Lagos State Principal Cup ended in a grand style at Teslim Balogun Surulere, Lagos with Ikotun Girls smashing CMS Grammar School in a 2-0 thriller in the female final match. In the male category, Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School scored a jaw-dropping 6goals against Ejigbo Senior Secondary, who were lucky to score 1 goal through a penalty shootout.

From 615 teams drawn from secondary schools across 6 districts in Lagos state, Ikotun girls and Dairy Farm Boys are an unstoppable force in Nigeria’s grass-root soccer.

The prestigious secondary school tournament is an annual football competition geared towards the development of grass roots football. The discovery of young football talents fostering camaraderie amongst secondary students as well as helping students actualize their dream of becoming professional footballers.

For 7 years running, the competition has provided a developmental platform for young talents to be identified, nurtured and contribute immensely to the development of grassroots football.

GTBank gave out prizes to winners and runner-ups as promised, ranging from 1,000,000 for the winner, to 750,000 for the 1st runner up, 500,000 for the 2nd runner up , and 250,000 for the 3rd runner up. For the girls category, Ikotun High School, CMS Girls Secondary School, Sanya Senior Secondary School and Isale Eko Senior High School emerged 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th respectively; while for the boys, Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School, Ejigbo Senior Secondary School, Keme Balogun Senior College and Jubilee Grammar School emerged 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
