The Season 6 semi-finals of GTBank-Lagos State Principals Cup took place at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos on April 29th – 30th 2015.

The first day of the semi-finals match at Onikan Stadium was an exciting one.

Oriwu Model Senior ollege 0-0 (4-3 Pen) Cms Girls Senior Secondary School

Oriwu Model Senior College, Ikorodu saw off CMS Girls Senior Secondary School, Bariga in the first female semi-finals through penalty shoot out. CMS Girls had a chance in the second half when they were awarded a penalty but their captain, Folorounsho Aminat was not able to make it count. Oriwu went ahead and won 4-3 on penalties to book their place in the finals.

Ikorodu Senior Grammar School 1-2 Birrel Avenue Senior Secondary School,

For the male category, Ikorodu Senior Grammar School, Ikorodu started off on a good

note as they went ahead minutes before half time but Birrel Avenue Senior Secondary School, Sabo came back from the break and got 2 goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Birrel Avenue, who is playing in the GTBank-Lagos State Principals Cup for the very first time.

Like every other team, it has not been easy for Birrel Avenue and they have strived hard to remain in the competition, the team is excited to play at the semi-finals and they are hopeful that they will be victorious.

DAY 2 

Governement Girls College, Agege 1-3 Ikotun Senior Secondary School,

There was a replay of the last year’s finals as defending champions in the female category, Governement Girls College, Agege played against Ikotun Senior Secondary School, Ikotun. But Ikotun dethroned the current champions by 3-1. Ikotun were two goals up by half time as Government Girls were not sharp on the attack. Government Girls got one back through Olaronke Ola’s freekick but Ikotun scored the third goal few minutes before the end of the match and they get to play at the finals.

Keke High School, Ijaye, Agege 1-0 Ifako Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Ifako

The last semi-final match in the male category between Keke High School, Ijaye, Agege and Ifako Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Ifako ended goalless at half time. But Keke were persistent and proved too strong for their opponents and they got the winner in the 51st minutes to advance to the finals.

Finalists emerge…

After the Semi-final round, Oriwu Model College, Ikorodu will play Ikotun Senior Secondary School, Ikotun in the female category finals while in the male category, Birrel Avenue Senior Secondary School, Sabo will take on Keke High School, Ijaye, Agege in the finals.
