The GTBank – Lagos State Principals Cup Season 8 Finals took place on Wednesday, 30th May 2017 at Teslim Balogun Stadium where Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School, Ojokoro and Isale Eko Grammar School, Lagos Island emerged as champions in the male and female categories respectively.
There were lots of exciting moments to recall from the finals, in which words alone can’t explain. There wasn’t a moment of dullness;

MALE CATEGORY
In the quarter finals stage, Ijaiye Housing Estate defeated Gbaja Boys High School in a penalty after they equalised 1-1. At the Semi-Finals Stage, They played against Ogogunyan Senior Grammar School, and the ended in favour of Ijaiye Housing Estate.
At the final stage, Ijaiye Housing Estate made their intention known and clear to their opponent. They emerged as the champions after defeating Ikotun Senior High School, Ojokoro 2 goals to nil.
Ijaiye Housing Estate won the price money of N1,000,000 for first place, Ikotun Senior High School with N750,000 for second place.
Odogunyan came in 3rd place with a cash price of N500,000 and Muslim Senior College went with a cash price of N250,000 in 4th place.

FEMALE CATEGORY
In the semi-finals female category, there was a battle between Government Senior College, Agege VS Sanya Senior Grammar School in which the match ended with a penalty. Government Senior College won and qualified for the Final stage. On the other hand, Isale Eko Grammar School played against Ikorodu Senior High School. Isale Eko Grammar School after a long battle won the match with 2-1 against Ikorodu Senior High School.
Government Senior College, Agege played against Isale Eko Grammar School at the Finals. After much dribbling and strategic moves, the match ended in a penalty. Isale Eko missed none of their chances and emerged as the champions of the match.
Isale Eko Grammar School won the price money of N1,000,000 for first place and Government Senior College with N750,000 for second place.
Ikorodu Senior High School came in 3rd place with a cash price of N500,000 and Sanya Senior Grammar School went with a cash price of N250,000 in 4th place.
However, reacting on the significance of the competition in Nigeria’s educational framework, the MD/CEO of Guaranty Trust Bank plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, believes the competition will pave the way for youths to cultivate their sporting talents.
The students were advised to imbibe the spirit of fair play, hard work, and discipline and these are some of the core values of GTBank.
