The objective of this games is to enhance Staff cohesion and reintegration which is a major factor to get up to speed and maximize productivity immediately after the post Covid19 era which have forced companies to adjust and readjust to the new work-place demands
Sport has always been a major tool for bringing people together. The benefits of getting involved in sports and other related activities are numerous both to the physical body and mental health and the FCSSA Games was no different
From 18th July to 22nd July 2022, the curtains were drawn on another epic season of the FrieslandCampina Sub Sahara Africa Games and the finale was one to remember. The colorful and action-packed days were graced by a host of executives/directors including the Managing Director of the company.
The staff were divided into ten (10) different team comprising of more than one department/unit per team. CAN PLANT & DDO, ENGINEERING, SECURITY, FAILITY & OTHERS, EVAP PLANT & FUTURA, FINANCE, AUDIT & I.T, HR, LEGAL, CAD, CANTEEN, CLINIC, IKORODU PLANT, MARKETING, SN & SALES, POWDER PLANT, QUALITY, R&D & SHE, SUPPLY CHAIN & PROCUREMENT
OPENING CEREMONY
The FC SSA Games 2022 opening ceremony which took place on Monday 18th July at FrieslandCampina head office had in attendance the presence of following executives/directors;
Aikhuemelo Tope-Philips, Cluster HR Director, Famurewa Ore, Executive Corporate Affairs Director, Adedeji Adeshoga, Sales Director, Bandele Temitope, Cluster Supply Chain Director, Dolapo Otegbayi, Specialized Nutrition Director as well as various head of departments.
Highlights of the Opening Ceremony includes;
- National Anthem: The invited band “Man o war” opened the event with the National Anthem of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- Safety Briefing; A representative from the SHE Department further enlightened the gathering on the basic principle of safety consciousness at the work place as well as during the event/activation.
- Departmental March Past; All the 10 teams were present on ground to fly their departmental colors at the first point based event – March Past.
Marketing, SN & Sales division emerged winner in a closely contested battle followed by Supply Chain & Procurement as the 1st Runner up while Quality, R&D and SHE – 2nd Runner-up
GAMES
FOOTBALL
The event took place at Government Technical College, Agidingbi, with four teams which were formed from the merging of the different department/units. The teams are; COMMERCIAL OBESSESSION, WIN-WIN, PURPOSE DRIVEN, OWNERS MINDSET
The football competition went straight into semi-final matches as the 4 teams took over the pitch to vie for the champion’s title.
Semi-final 1: WIN-WIN 0 VS 2 COMMERCIAL OBSESSION
Semi-final 2: PURPOSE DRIVEN 1 VS 0 OWNERS MINDSET
Third Place: WIN-WIN (2) 0 Vs 0 (4) OWNERS MINDSET
Third place match ended in penalty in favor of Owners mindset
Final: COMMERCIAL OBSESSION 2 vs 1 PURPOSE DRIVEN
The final match had in attendance the MD, Directors and other head of departments
VOLLEYBALL
The event took place at the head office 2nd gate car park. This event which was termed one of the MD’s favorite sport had the same 4 teams vying for the volleyball games champions’ position just as in the case of football

Third Place: Purpose Drive (1) Vs (2) Commercial Obessession
Final: Win-win 1 VS 2 Owners Mindset
OTHER EVENTS
All ten departments, had representatives compete in Chess, Scrabble, Draught, Ludo, Tug of war, Pop da Balloon, Dance competition, Table Tennis, Freekick challenge, Video Games and shoot a hoop and winners emerged from all participating departments.
CLOSING CEREMONY
The closing ceremony of the FC SSA Games 2022 took place on Friday 22nd July 2022 at the headquarters, after a long week of activities. The event started on a high note with lots of engaging activities;
Ball Joggler, Zumba Dance for all staff, performance by the Brigade band, lots of gifts and Medal Presentation to all winners and the Overall Champions.
The closing ceremony had in attendance all the management team which was led by the MD – Ben Langat. In his closing remark, he thanked the organizing committee for putting together a great sporting event. He reiterated the management commitment towards the FC SSA Games as well as staff general welfare. He urged all staff to be actively involved in the games as this will help them to keep fit both physically and mentally.
The MD and other management staff were fully active and involved as both participants and judges at the final event of the day.
The medals were presented to all category winners as well as the Football and Overall Champion Trophies
