The PwC Chess4Change Grand Slam Event draws to a close today.
The 3 day event which took place at Kings College, Victoria Island saw 5 schools competing against one another for prizes.
The schools are – Kings College, Kuramo College, Victoria Island; Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ikoyi; Government College, Victoria Island and Falomo Senior Secondary School, Ikoyi.
Dignitaries present are Mrs Wunmi Adetokunbo Ajayi, Partner, Risk Assurance Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers; Mrs Babs Akinyeye, Director Co-Curriculm, Lagos State Ministry of Education; Mr Obafela Bank-Olemoh, Chairman Lagos State Chess Association and Otunba Oladele Olapeju, Principal, Kings College.
After Chess Grand Slam events, Kings College emerge overall winners of the competition and they won – 4 HP Desktop Computers, Printer and Certificate of Participation from PwC.
Akande Dahunsi came 2nd and won- 2 Desktop Computers, Printer and Certificate of Participation while Falomo won 2 Desktop Computers and Certificate of Participation from the sponsors for taking 3rd position.
Top 5 Students that emerged from the Chess Competition –
1st – Master Peter Babalola, Kings College.
2nd – Master Haruna Benjamin, Akande Dahunsi Memorial
3rd – Master Samson Obasi – Falomo Senior Secondary School
4th – Master Tosin Adebayo – Government Senior College
5th – Master Aregbesola Olamide – Kuramo Senior College.
Peter got Apple iPad, 20,000 Naira and a Chess Set,
Benjamin won a Samsung GalaxyTab, 15,000 Naira and Chess Board while Samson went home with Samsung Note, 15,000 Naira and a Chess Board.
All individual winners were also given Certificate of Participation courtesy of Sponsors – PricewaterhouseCoopers.
