The finals started on a lively note as Oriwu Model Senior College, Ikorodu and Ikotun senior Secondary Schopol, Ikotun took center stage.
The match was goalless for the first 15 minutes of the game but the enigmatic Ikotun Captain, Salisu Anuoluwapo broke the deadlock in the 18 minutes to give her team the lead. However, this did not last long as Oriwu got an equalizer immediately after Ikotun scored. Ikedube Peace scored in the 19th minutes for Oriwu.
But the Ikotun Girls were not done yet as Anusilem Chinemerem scored at the stroke of half time to give Ikotun the lead again for the second time in the game making it 2-1 at half time. Salisu Anuoluwapo then scored her second goal of the game and the match ended 3-1 at full time make them Champions for the second time in 3 years.
Keke High School, Ijaye-Agege were hoping to win their second trophy in 3 years when they filed out against first timers, Birrel Avenue Senior Secondary School, Sabo.
The game was tense has both sides could not get a goal in the first half.
However, Daniel Emmanuel of Birrel Avenue scored from a free kick 10 minutes to the final whistle and Birrel Avenue were on their way to their first GTBank-Lagos State Principals Cup trophy.
But Keke’s substitute – Alani Sikiru, replied two minutes later and the game was all square. The match went straight to penalties at it ended 1-1 at regulation time and Birrel Avenue Senior Secondary won 4-2 to be crowned GTBank-Lagos State Principals Cup Season 6 Champions for the first time in history.
