The Grand Slam Tournament is the climax of the PwC Chess4Change Programme, brings together chess prodigies in Public Secondary Schools across Lagos over the course of three days to determine the best.

The Second Edition of the Tournament will hold from

Date:   Tuesday, 19th to Thursday 21st of April 2016

Venue: Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Time:   10:00am Daily

Prizes: Desktop Computers, Printers, Internet Modem, Educational Tablets, Cash Prizes, etc. for Winning Schools & Individuals

Dignitaries from the sponsors – PwC, as well as from the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Lagos State Sports Commission and Lagos State Chess Association are expected to attend the 3-day event.

The tournament is an integral part of the PwC Chess4Change programme – an initiative aimed at improving critical thinking among youths through the game of Chess.  Apart from determining the top young chess prodigies in secondary schools in Lagos; the Grand Slam is also an avenue to expose these talents to competitive chess competitions from an early age while also boosting the popularity of chess in the grassroots.

The Chess4Change programme which commenced in 2014 started with six (6) schools and has increased to thirteen (13) schools across the educational districts in Lagos State.

Expected Schools: 20

King’s College Lagos, Akande Dahunsi Memorial High School, Ikoyi and Falomo Senior High School, Ikoyi occupied the top three spots that order in the 1st edition (last Year 2105).
