SKYE 1-0 ECOBANK

The tie between Skye Bank and Ecobank was akin to a David and Goliath story only that this time David could not get the angles right on his sling shot and failed to down Goliath. Skye Bank’s 1 – 0 victory over Ecobank all must agree had a divine hand to it.

With not many giving Ecobank much of a chance, they surprised many with their enterprising play and ability to make many doubt the champions tag on Skye Bank. Skye Bank however proved why they are champions with a late goal through Shola Akintayo.

STANBIC 1-0 HERITAGE BANK

Stanbic-IBTC locked horns with Heritage Bank in a game both teams needed all 3 points to boost their chances of quarter final qualification. Stanbic-IBTC were able to get their campaign on track with a 1 – 0 win over Heritage Bank.It wasn’t easy running for Stanbic-IBTC as Heritage bank controlled the game and took it to Stanbic. They created several chances which goalkeeper Seyi Awoniyi was able to thwart. Against the run of play Stanbic were able to take the lead as Dayo Oyikunwole received a through pass, bore down on the Heritage goal before putting it beyond the reach of goalkeeper Tunde Awoniyi.

UBA 0-0 FIDELITY BANK

The game between these two heavyweights was a much anticipated tie and it did delight in terms of action, but left the neutrals disappointed with the absence of goals as these two giants played out an action packed goalless draw.

STERLING BANK 0-0 DIAMOND BANK

The other tie of the day was between Sterling Bank and Diamond bank. It was a game in which maximum points would have done both sides a whole load of good, but the two sides were unable to deliver in terms of goals. The game ended goalless.
