FEMALE MATCH

The finals of GTBank – Ogun State Principals Cup started off with the female match between Muslim High School, Isolu and Ajogbo Grammar School, Sango Ota. The game started with a ceremonial kick-off by the representative of Ogun State First Lady Mrs. Olufunke Oladipo – The wife of the Hon. Comm for Culture & Tourism.

It was goal galore as the home team showed their opponents no mercy in front of goal, scoring two goals in either halves to be crowned Female Champions of GTBank – Ogun State Principals Cup Season 6.

Muslim High School’s skipper, Soyinka Kemi was awarded the Most Valuable Player as a reward for her outstanding performance during the game.

MALE MATCH

Next up was the Male final between Pakoto High School, Ifo and Alamuwa High School, Ado Odo Ota.

As at this time Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun was present to usher in the final game with a ceremonial kick-off, after which both teams started what went on to be an intriguing final game of season 6.

Both sides started off with strings of attacking play as they tried to get into the game with a few dangerous passes at either ends of the pitch. The first half however, ended goalless as neither side found the back of the net.

The second half of the game started with timid displays from both sides which was due to the heavy downpour that started in the latter part of the first half. But Alamuwa High School soon broke the deadlock, with a silky performance down the left flank to score a game swinger as Pakoto High School also woke up from their slumber, springing up some dangerous balls into the final third of Alamuwa High School, who could not hold further as the Pakoto boys finally equalized in the closing part of the second half.

The centre referee signaled end of regular time, and the game ended into penalties, leaving everyone at the edge of their seats. Alamuwa Grammar School, Ado Odo Ota came out tops in the penalty shootout, winning 5- 4 goals to be crowned Male Champions of GTBank – Ogun State Principals Cup Season 6.

Ogunro Toheeb of Alamuwa High School was awarded the Most Valuable Player following his brilliant display during the game.
