Nigeria FMCG Games

The highly anticipated 5th season of the Nigeria FMCG Games kicked off on the 2nd of September 2018 at the Yabatech Sports Complex. The opening day of the competition was graced by top dignitaries & guest, a few notable mentions include;

  • Victoria Uwadoka – Corporate Communications & Public Affairs Manager, Nestle Nigeria
  • Mr Ekundayo Idowu – Country Employees Relations Manager, Nestle Nigeria
  • Mr Odoemene Okezie – Human Resource Business Partner, Unilever
  • Mrs Ayo Alabi – Corporate Affairs Manager, Guinness
  • Mr Olayemi Kumoye – Human Resource Manager, Nestle Nigeria

In the opening match of the football event, two-time football champions and first runner up at the 2017 Games – Unilever, trade tackles with 2018 debutants – Guinness Nigeria. Guinness started on the front foot, playing some good football but the experience of the Unilever team prevailed on the day as a double from Richard Akhadelor and further goals from Emmanuel Okwemmena and Kehinde Afar helped to seal a comfortable victory for Unilever.

The second match saw Remita Corporate Champions Cup 2015 champions and 2016 Nigeria FMCG Games overall champions – Nestle, vie with another debutant of the 2018 FMCG Games – Reckitt Benckiser. The game was played at a frantic pace as both teams looked to find the opener with the two goal keepers thwarting every shot thrown at them. The match came alive when in the dying minute of the first half, a well-placed through pass from Olaleye Olamide was met by Adebari Kamoru who placed a low finish beyond the Reckitt Benckiser goalie. The match eventually ended 1- 0 in a favour of Nestle.

Spectators took part in the Fastest Finger, Take –A- Shot, Basketball Challenge and the Raffle Draws. Participants won lots of prizes and freebies in these contest.  The DJ was on ground to play lovely tunes to excite and thrill the crowd.

Action continues this weekend – Sunday, 9th September at the YabaTech Sports Complex as the FMCG games defending champions & Current Champions of the 2018 RC3 will take on Reckitt Benckiser at the first match. The Second match will see Guinness tackle with Nestle Nigeria.
