Ahead of this weekend’s Nigeria Telcoms Games match between two of the biggest teams in the industry, Etisalat has expressed plenty of confidence.

The team’s goalkeeper, ChimaNnorom expressed his team’s high expectations for the weekend game. In his words “The feeling in camp is very upbeat and we’re looking forward to the tie.” Without sounding overconfident he was eager to make it known that there was no fear in taking on the defending champions MTN. He says “It’s an important tie because it’s MTN and we’ve been training every Tuesday and Thursday to ensure all the I’s are dotted and the t’s crossed.”

On his expectations for his team this year, he was quick to let us know that anything less than the title will be mission unaccomplished. “We are a vastly improved team and have played 3 friendlies against decent opposition and won all 3. We are a fitter and better fortified side with new additions to the team.”

On whether Etisalat can dethrone MTN; “Definitely, we’ve worked hard and are in better shape. This is the best time for us to win.”

He also expressed his sadness at the death of their Captains dad and hopes he will be in a good frame to feature in the tie, but claims it has had minimal impact on the squad even as he says he cannot comment on his availability for the tie.

ChimaNnorom won the MVP of the 2011 tournament.
