Nigeria FMCG Gamesstory

The FMCG games entered week 2 with two exciting games at the Legacy pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The first game saw debutants Nestle take on UNILEVER seeking to make an impression. The game started at a frenetic pace, with UNILEVER showing a better understanding of the environment having played there last week. UNILEVER Star player, Ikechukwu Enebeli started from the bench, same as Chike Nwanze for NESTLE.

NESTLE gradually grew into the game and after several misses, the UNILEVER defence finally caved in. Kassim Isah was able to break through the defence to nip in the first goal. In the final minute of play UNILEVER won a penalty. The penalty was duly dispatched by Akindayo Akintope. The game ended 1 – 1.

Defending champions DUFIL PRIMA took on PZ Cussons in a replay of last year’s opening match. Both teams have a good understanding of each other’s weaknesses and strengths and it showed in the ensuing exchanges.

PZ were able to create several chances on the break, but failed to make anyone of them count as their finishing left much to be desired. Dufil however started creating chances but kept wasting it.

Just when it looked like the game was headed for a draw, Dufil won a penalty. Captain and goalkeeper of Dufil, Tosin Oyewole stepped forward to put past goalkeeper Olusegun Abubakar.
