Pwc Chess4change is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by PricewaterhouseCoopers, supported by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development.

The core goal of the initiative is to introduce chess to secondary schools and use it as a tool to enhance student’s critical thinking ability to promote academic excellence as they prepare strategically for the future. 

Population:

  • In 2016, 144 students participated in the programme while 166 students took part in 2017 edition.
  • 61% of schools in the programme are Mixed.
  • 22% are Female Only Schools
  • 17% are Male Only Schools

Impact of PwC Chess4Change On Academic Performance Of the Students

Mathematics:

  • In 2017, 66% of the students had an increase in their Mathematics grades

Entrepreneurship:

  • 81% of the students had an increase in their Entrepreneurial grades
