The Nigeria Bankers Games season 16 is gradually progressing!
Following the first weekend of the NBG 2016, the competition entered week 2 on Saturday, 15th and Sunday 16th October 2016, featuring four thrilling football matches.
On Saturday, UBA played Stanbic IBTC while Fidelity Bank traded tackles with Eco Bank.
UBA emerged winners in the first match of the day beating Stanbic IBTC 5 – 1.
The second match of the day saw defending champions Fidelity Bank take on Eco Bank.
Fidelity Bank still riding on the momentum of their match day one win faced formidable opponent in Ecobank. After a closely contested encounter, Fidelity came out tops with a 1 – 0 victory.
On Sunday, two matches were played. Last year’s runner-up First Bank took on FCMB while Union Bank traded tackles with Sterling Jets of Sterling Bank.
First Bank scored in the third minute of the game repeating their match day one feat.
FCMB put up a good fight but failed to convert their chances before conceding a second goal in the first half. In the second half, FCMB was rejuvenated as they came out smoking but First Bank held on for the win.
In the second match, Sterling Bank defeated Union Bank by 2 – 0 getting their first win from two matches.
SPECTATOR ENGAGEMENT
Spectators and fans alike were not left out in the fun, as there were amusing games to engage them.
