The FMCG Games came to an end at the Legacy pitch of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos with plenty of colour. There were three matches played on the day to close the games. The first game was a novelty match between Airtel and JUMIA. Airtel brought their experience to bear as they beat JUMIA two nil.unilever-champions

In the other games of the day, PZ Cussons who were up in arms with Nestle looked to avenge the defeat to Nestle in the REMITA Cup and the group stage of the FMCG games.

PZ came out of the blocks smoking, pressuring Nestle and forcing them to the back foot. Nestle were not getting the space they usually thrive on and were finding it hard to get into the game. Nestle however grew into the game and started asserting themselves. A PZ defensive mix up however allowed Kareem Isah to steal in and nod in the only goal of the game in the second.FMCG-FINAL-DAY-RESULTS-1

Dufil Prima were also looking to avenge their group stage defeat to UNILEVER, but it wasn’t a day of vengeance.

It was end to end stuff with both teams looking for the opener, gradually UNILEVER began to assert their authority on the game. Dufil, however were not going to give up their title without a fight and also responded in style. The defense led by Ola Idowu, Kenneth Ohue and well shielded by Akintade Ekundayo for UNILEVER held firm.

The breakthrough came midway through the first half and when it did, it was UNILEVER who through Wasiu Emedayo got it.

UNILEVER thus won the football gold and also ended up as overall champions with 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze medals with Dufil coming at the bottom of the table with a solitary Silver medal.
