GTBank Masters Cup

The GTBank Masters Cup season 7 continued on Thursday, January 18, 2018 as participating schools took to the grassy pitches in various match venues in Lagos for the second matches in the male category of the competition. Seven Matches Were played in total across three centers.

Kings College, Lagos Island hosted the following matches:

Greenspring School, Lekki VS Methodist Boys High School, VI (5– 0) – A thrilling encounter which produced five spectacular  goals  from Greenspring Schools, Lekki  while Methodist Boys High School, VI were unable to find the back of the net all through the game. Muritala Toheeb of the winning team was unarguably the best player on the pitch. His performance gifted him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.

Jubril Martin Memorial School, Iponri VS Igbobi College, Yaba (1 – 2) – The game started with a low tempo as the first half couldn’t produce goals but the story changed 20 minutes to the final whistle when the teams started scoring. Igbobi College, Yaba captain Ramon Akanni, who scored the equalizer for his team won Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award of the match.

Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo VS ST. Finbarr’s College, Akoka (1 – 8) – Hattrick from Nweke Chidi and Augustine Ikechukwu of ST. Finbarr’s College, Akoka were the highlights of the day as defending champions ST. Finbarr’s College, Akoka demolished Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo.  Hattrick captain of the winning team, Augustine Ikechukwu won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.

CMS Grammar School, Bariga hosted the following matches:

Bellina College, Akoka VS Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba. (0-6) – Mmuo Onyedikachi of FSTC, Yaba won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match as Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba demolished Bellina College, Akoka. Kareem Olamide and Nwahunanca Daniel got on the score sheet with a brace by both players.

International School (Unilag), Lagos VS Dowen College, Lekki (3-0) – Soyebi Adewale of International School (Unilag), Lagos was the Hero of the match with a hattrick and Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in an easy win for the home team.

Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo hosted the following matches:

Western College, Yaba VS Ansar-ud-deen Grammar School, Randle (1-1) – The match ended in stalemate with a goal each from Macaulay Godspower and Balogun Ibrahim respectively. Farouk Jimoh of Western College won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the match.
